I have taken family snaps for many years but my obsession with more serious photography is relatively recent. In 2001 I purchased a point and shoot digital camera and I was hooked: to see the image immediately on the back of the camera was addictive and then to print it personally was very gratifying. I loved it. I bought a digital SLR in 2003 and began to use it to obtain, for the first time, photographs other than family pictures. My initial images were mainly landscapes but before long I discovered the pleasures of nature photography. I retired from an academic career in 2005 and then concentrated on improving my photographic skills by obtaining Royal Photographic Society distinctions. I obtained LRPS in 2006, ARPS in 2007 and FRPS in 2009. Additional examples of my photographs can be seen at www.hanahoephotography.com.
